Priorities in Life: A Guide to Staying Grounded 📕
Welcome back!
I have news. This week, I crossed some sort of mental barrier. I completely re-define my priorities with RNW.
This realization started at the gym. I went to work out and ended up speaking for hours with the owner. Turns out he owns 27 gyms here in Texas. Great guy with a fascinating story.
I am naturally curious and obsess with businesses. As a result, I meet the most interesting people everyday.
The other day I met a guy who sold an ambulance company for $30M as a solofounder.
I just talked a teacher selling 6-figures worth of lessons to other teachers on Teacher-pay-teacher. And she doesn’t even write the lessons, her VAs do.
I love these kind of stories. Which brings me to my point about priorities.
I am now sending two editions, making RNW a complete newsletter .
Fridays - Unique ways people made money and built wealth.
Not the usual stories you find online. I am going to hire a team and dig for the most unique ways people made money. On and Off-line doesn’t matter.
Sundays - What to expect after you’ve secured the bag.
The usual !
Now, let’s talk about your priorities. The root of all drama is lack of clarity.
Here are 9 things you shouldn’t prioritize at all as a wealthy person.
9 Things That Are Not A Priority In Life👇
#1 - Trying Hard For Everyone To Like You 😆
It's a hard truth to swallow, but no matter what you do, some people just won't like you. Your new found wealth makes it even harder. But don't let it consume you.
Chasing other people's approval is a futile pursuit. I remember times in my life where I went the extra-mile to be liked or feel accepted.
Totally not worth it!
#2 - Proving Haters Wrong 😤
This is a great fuel to get you going and make something out of yourself. Nothing wrong with that. But It can quickly become a vicious habit.
Proving your haters wrong means they still have a hold on you. Might be time to focus on yourself!
#3 - Seeking Status 🤵
Flexing your wealth is just a show for others. It’s insecurity. You're still controlled by the need to impress others.
A guy told me once showing off your wealth and name dropping is like opening yourself up like a book for the rest of the world to read how insecure you are. (Deep!)
#4 - Cheap Dopamine 🧠
Likes on social media and exes watching your stories may give you a momentary buzz, but it doesn't add any real value to your life.
Our brain is wired to crave the instant gratification that comes from these microdoses of dopamine, but it's important to take a step back and assess if these distractions are taking away from our happiness.
#5 - Groupthink 🐑
Groupthink is dangerous as it removes critical thinking from the equation.
The pressure to conform to the group's opinions can take away from your individuality.
Usually politics is the great divider between immature friends.
Many people stopped speaking to each other during the last elections. 🤦
#6- Your Online Identity🤳🏼
People are investing money to enhance their virtual persona that they have built online. They edit their photos, purchase fake followers and hide the content that does not get the desired engagement.
We all know it’s all fake. Stay authentic. Let your lifestyle speaks for itself.
#7- Blind Faith 💒
Regardless of the source, be it religion or a group ideology, when they tell you to stop questioning and just believe, it's a red flag. 🚩
Blind faith in people will lead to disappointment. Know someone who gave his entire salary to a pastor thinking it was going to be saved.
Think for yourself!
#8- Pleasure over Happiness 🍯
Many people are in a constant pursuit of pleasure, which ultimately makes them unhappy.
Just like eating a burger every day may taste good in the moment but harm your health in the long run, the same goes for pleasure over happiness.
To truly be happy, focus on finding peace instead of chasing happiness. (Cliché but 100% true)
#9- Fixing Your Friends and Family 🗽
You’re not the savior. It's not your responsibility to fix everyone around you.
We often learn this lesson the hard way.
Most therapists understand this and do not offer solutions outright, as they understand that people need to arrive at the answers themselves.
Word of Wisdom 👴
This video sums it up really well in 1 minutes.
I love this guy’s YT channel. He asks people about life regrets and things they would do differently.
See you Next week!
